Speaking in a recent interview, Rufftone noted that he could not join ODM because it is characterised by hooliganism and violence, compared to UDA.

To support his argument, the singer recalled an instance where his blood brother, Daddy Owen chased him with panga during the 2007 General Elections after they disagreed.

At the time, Rufftone said he was supporting PNU while Daddy Owen was supporting ODM.

“I was born in this country in Eastlands and even in 2007, I remember my blood brother was for ODM while I was in PNU. But when we disagreed in the morning, Daddy Owen had to run to the streets with his friends with pangas, seeking to harm me,” said Rufftone.

In November 2021, Rufftone announced his plans to vie for Nairobi senatorial seat come 2022.

Speaking in an interview, the musician said he is doing a campus tour across the country before he officially ventures into politics.

“This is not political but the duty is about the souls. I believe God called me to serve Him in different ways

“The young generation is distorted and misplaced and a parent, it gets to a point you get mad and try to sort the issue rather than pointing fingers,” he said.

Rufftone added that people have been made to believe that campus life is all about drugs and bad life.

“As a gospel minister, it is a way of trying to bring sanity to the current generation. Most of these vices are introduced from Primary school, normalised in high school and are perfected in our campuses,” he added.
