Roysambu: Locals Loot Rice, Beans as Lorry Overturns on Thika Superhighway (VIDEO)

Drama ensued in Roysambu on Tuesday, March 8 following an accident involving a lorry ferrying relief food. 

The lorry ferrying rice and beans flipped along the Thika Superhighway attracting the attention of Kenyans grappling with the high cost of living brought about by increased prices of essential commodities.

In videos shared on social media, locals could be seen making away with bags of rice and beans from the accident scene as motorists watch from their vehicles. 

In no time, a section of motorists joined the loot and stuffed the bags inside their cars as they return to the scene to pick more. 

Others used Boda Bodas. 

No casualties were reported.

In September 2021, locals in Karatina, Nyeri County were in a celebratory mood after a train collided with a truck ferrying crates of soda. 

Locals made away with crates of sodas as others watched in disbelief.

Others could be seen wearing happy faces while holding bottles of soda as they walk away from the lorry while others stared at them from far.
