SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri has reacted after his wife managed to steer a KQ flight amidst a strong storm and landed safely at Heathrow Airport, London.
According to a video widely shared across social media platforms, flying a KQ Boeing 787, Karauri managed to skilfully steer the plane onto the runway as Storm Eunice raged at speeds over 70 Knots.
Speaking on the same, she noted that she encountered the storm at the airport but she was able to land safely through the training she had received from Kenya Airways.
“The flight conditions were strong gusting winds and it was quite a bumpy ride. However, thanks to the training we have had at Kenya Airways, particularly in the simulator, prepared us for such a scenario,” Karauri said.
Reacting to the skilful landing, Ronald gushed over his wife, terming himself Kenya’s best pilot followed by his wife.
“2nd best pilot in Kenya,” he wrote.
Karauri’s prowess caught the attention of many including Central Bank Governor Patrick Njoroge who congratulated her on the feat.
“You’ve seen the videos of planes struggling to land at London Heathrow Aiport yesterday with Storm Eunice
“The exception was KQ’s Captain Ruth Karauri who landed the 787 like a boss! Congrats Captain, and first officer Ayoob Harunany,” stated Njoroge.
