Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has finally made a public appearance after weeks of self isolation after testing positive for Covid-19.
The opposition leader accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday,April 1 while the president was inspecting various projects by the Nairobi Metropolitan service (NMS) in the Nairobi CBD.
According to Raila, he was in a critical condition were it not for God seeing him through.
In his remark, he also thanked the president for visiting him at his home during the three weeks when he was battling the virus.
“I am now out. God is good. Today I had the chance to be out for the first time. I want to thank my brother (Uhuru) for visiting me at home. Kenyans can now see me. I have been in critical condition for the past three weeks. I’ am now out and I thank God,” said Raila who had been flunked by Uhuru.
The ODM leader also praised Uhuru his continued hardwork to develop the country’s infrastructure.
“I am happy to see the good work that is currently underway. The work at the bus park (Greenpark) is impressive. I have always had an interest in good infrastructure. The government is doing a good job,” he said.
Raila was taken to the Nairobi Hospital after complaining of body ache and fatigue.
Dr David Oluoch Olunya confirmed Raila tested positive for Covid-19 and assure that he was responding well to treatment he is receiving and remains upbeat.
The opposition leader then said that he had to go for mandatory quarantine.
“While the tests were several, one important result, which I have authorised the doctors to make public is that I have been found to have been exposed to COVID-19,” Raila said on March 11.
He urged citizens to follow the rules set by the Ministry of Health to fight the disease because it exists.
After undergoing couple of tests Raila is now out of danger.
The good news of the opposition supremo recovering from the deadly virus was first publicized by the ODM’s official twitter page on Wednesday, March 31.
“We are happy our party leader Raila Odinga has tested negative and is out of danger of COVID-19. We thank God for that. God bless him, God bless Kenya,” said ODM in a statement.
