Kiss FM has unveiled radio presenter Jalang’o’s replacement as he resigns to focus on campaigns ahead of August 9 General Elections.
According to photos shared on social media, comedian Dr Ofweneke has been picked to replace Jalang’o ahead of his exit in February.
Dr Ofweneke had earlier indicated that he would be hosting the breakfast show alongside Kamene Goro and Jalang’o.
“Tommorrow, Wed, Thursday & Friday I will be co-hosting breakfast alongside my fam Kamene Goro and Jalang’o only on Kiss 100,” the comic wrote.
This comes barely a week after Jalang’o hinted at quitting media to focus on politics.
In an update on his Instagram page, the comic stated that he is about to hang his boots but before he could do so, he wants to pass the baton to the next ‘Jalang’o’.
“We are about to hang up the boots and take a new challenge. But we can’t just drop the mic… I need to pass it to the next Jalang’o,” reads part of his message.
Speaking in a previous episode on his Bonga Na Jalas YouTube series, Jalang’o said he will be tendering in his resignation letter on February 9, 2022.
He explained that he will be forced to leave the station as dictated by the Kenyan electoral laws which demand one to resign from their official jobs as they join politics.
Jalang’o noted that he will resume campaigns immediately after leaving Kiss 100 in a bid to secure the Langata Parliamentary seat in the upcoming General Election.
“Get ready to replace me when I leave Kiss. I will be leaving on Wednesday, February 9, 2022,” Jalang’o told MCA Tricky.
