Roots Party of Kenya Presidential aspirant Prof George Wajackoyah has unveiled his running mate in the August 9 General Elections.
Wajackoyah, a known advocate of marijuana, becomes the first person to name his running mate ahead of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) deadline set for May 16.
The eccentric presidential hopeful named Justina Wambui Wamae as his running mate in an update on Twitter dated Thursday, May 5.
Wamae holds a Bachelor’s degree from Daystar University and a Master’s degree from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
In the tweet, Wajackoyah noted that she was born and raised in Dagoretti but her parents hail from Murang’a County.
Wamae was vetted and chosen by the presidential campaign team chaired by a retired judge.
Just like her partner, Wamae who attended Limuru Girls High School also supports legalization of marijuana.
“We decided to be leaders and others to follow, we thought why should we wait?, It’s time we name the running mate to Prof Wajackoya so that we can hit the ground running and let Kenyans know we are ready for public service,” she said.
She also participated in the 2017 elections.
Wamae vied for for the Mavoko parliamentary seat in Machakos County but lost to Wiper Party candidate Patrick Makau.
