President Uhuru, Margaret receive COVID-19 vaccine

President Uhuru Kenyatta and the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta on Friday, March 26 received the Covid-19 vaccine jab.

In a live televised vaccination exercise presided by professionals the president led by example with an aim of encouraging Kenyans to get vaccinated.

Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe among others followed Uhuru’s steps and got vaccinated against the deadly disease.

Earlier today the president ordered his entire cabinet and the Executive office to get vaccinated for Covid-19.

The head of state said that by taking the jab, the state Officers would make an important move of leading the others by example.

Uhuru’s statement was confirmed by Chief of Staff in the Office of the President, Nzioka Waita who said he had obeyed the order and taken the jab.

As the government scales up the rollout of the national #COVID19Vaccine programme, H.E the president has directed his entire Cabinet and Executive Office to lead by example and get the jab! Received mine this morning under the watchful guidance of the @MOH_Kenya vaccination team,” Waita tweeted.

Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Industrialization, Betty Maina, confirmed that she had been vaccinated.
