Two police officers in the US were fired after ignoring a robbery incident in progress to play a mobile phone game.
According to reports, Louis Lozano and Eric Mitchell, who worked for the Los Angeles Police Department revised to respond to the call and instead decided to play Pokemon Go.
A video system installed in their patrol car showed the duo busy playing the game as the robbery incident was going on.
The video system also recorded the officers as they discuss Pokemon Go as they drove to different locations
“They willfullyly abdicating their duty to assist a commanding officer’s response to a robbery in progress and playing a Pokemon mobile phone game while on duty,” the court papers read.
In their appeal, the police officers claimed they did not hear the radio call but investigations indicated that they heard but decided to ignore it.
In a separate story on GOTTA.news, a police inspector stationed at Maungu Police Station has sparked warm reactions on social media after returning money belonging to a family who survived a road accident.
Local publications reported that the inspector, identified as Job Oyagi recovered KSh 450,000 belonging to a family involved in a road accident along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
The officer stated that rather than keeping the money for himself, he chose to return it to the family which is currently receiving treatment in hospital.
Oyagi also disclosed that there way an attempt of robbery at the accident scene before the police intervened.
