Police Hunting Boda Boda Riders Recorded Assaulting Female Motorist Along Forest Road

Police have launched a manhunt for men believed to be boda boda riders who were caught on camera sexually assaulting a female motorist.

The incident is said to have taken place on Wangari Maathai Road in Nairobi.

In a video widely shared on social media, the motorist could be heard screaming as some men attempted to strip her naked ripping off her clothes in the process.

At the same time, another man tried to force her out of the vehicle but fortunately her seat belt was still latched on.

Police has already issued
a statement, affirming that they had identified the perpetrators and would take
stern action against them.

“The matter is under active
investigations. We have since identified some of the perpetrators and they will
be presented before a court of law upon completion of investigations,”

read the statement.

It is yet to be established what led to the attack.

@brotherman002: These things should be banned. I’ve been telling everyone since 2017. No one listens. They’re just starting and these are married men.

@bleppy2011: That clip spoil my morning, I can imagine someone’s daughter, wife or sister.

@aVirtualVoyager: She’ll be traumatised for a long time. Poor thing!

@justinewanda: What happened to that lady on Forest Road is heartbreaking. Stop asking how we got here because we’ve always been here! In our small, sheltered lives we may not experience the worst of it but we’ve always been here. Women get catcalled, harassed and abused every day!

In November 2021, Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai condemned an incident in which a number of riders were captured on camera attacking a motorist.

In a video that went viral, the rogue boda boda operators were recorded attacking a driver on Thika Superhighway after he reportedly hit their colleague.

“This incident was unfortunate. NO ONE is above the law. Harassment by bodaboda riders is not acceptable at all and my officers are hunting down the riders captured here physically assaulting the driver. I also urge the victim to report to the nearest police station,” he said.
