Police Arrest Probox Driver Recorded Speeding with Female Passenger

Police have reacted to a viral video showing an unidentified woman screaming from a speeding vehicle on the Thika Superhighway. 

On Sunday, March 20, a video showed a woman screaming for help while the car, a Toyota Probox sped on the busy highway with its front door open.  

The video went viral on social media with netizens calling on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) town to investigate the incident. 

Speaking on the same, police spokesperson Bruno Shioso on Monday, March 21, said the lady was in the company of his boyfriend when the incident happened and was from a social outing.  

The incident, according to Shioso, happened when the boyfriend demanded they go to his place but the woman refused. 

The woman is a medical student at Kenyatta University. 

The police spokesperson rubbished the claim that the woman had been kidnapped, further noting that the matter is still under investigation. 

At the same time, the driver of the vehicle has been arrested and he is currently being held at Kasarani Police Station. 

Confirming the arrest, Kasarani sub-county Police Commander Peter Mwanzo said the suspect will be arraigned over the manner that which he handled the incident.

“We will charge him in court because of the manner he handled the incident, it could have easily turned fatal,” Mwanzo said.
