NPS says video of police officer being robbed his phone is fake

The National Police Service has reacted to a viral video showing a police officer controlling traffic being robbed of his mobile phone.

In a statement, NPS dismissed the video saying it is forged for malicious purposes against the service .

“Our investigations have revealed that a video circulating on social media insinuating to be of a police officer being snatched a phone is a manipulated video whose intention is malicious. We urge members of the public to ignore,” NPS wrote.

In the viral video that has become the talk of many in social media, the police officer could be seen speaking on phone before a man aboard a motorcycle quickly snatched it.

The rider then sped off manoeuvering the traffic.

The confused officer could be seen seemingly asking another motorcyclist to go after the suspect.
