The National Police Service has halted the deployment of General Service Unit (GSU) graduates who issued threats to civilians in a viral video after their passing-out parade.
According to a report by a local publication, the officers in the viral video were retained at Embakasi police campus while the rest were deployed to their respective stations.
In a statement, police spokesperson Bruno Shioso said they are seeking to establish the number number of officers who issues threats before proceeding with takimg disciplinary action.
“Of course we understand these are young officers who are full of excitement for their first day of service. It was a big day also in terms of the chief guest present but there must be a review of what happened. We can’t make assumptions,” he said.
In the video, the psyched recruits donned the jungle military regalia with maroon berets as they vowed to deal with ordinary Kenyans.
“Mmmeishaa..tutawamaliza…sisi ndio wale wasee…hapana tambua…tunakuja nje…sisi ndio wa pa pa pa (loosely translated as we are coming out, you will see),” said the recruits.
