The hotly contested Kiambaa constituency and Muguga by-elections saw residents come out in full on Thursday,July 15 to vote for their favorite member of parliament and member of the county assembly (MCA) respectively.

However early the same day the mini poll was suspended over claims of voter bribery, fraud and intimidation as many took it as a competition between the president Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

Ruto’s party, the United Democratic Alliance blamed the ruling party Jubilee of paying area chiefs to bribe and intimidate voters.

Jubilee on the same, accused UDA of hiring good to cause chaos in the polling stations.

As the chaos erupted, Kipiriri member of Parliament faced the hard way with the Kiambaa residents in Kiambaa constituency who wondered why he was there yet he was not a voter nor an agent

The furious residents wanted him to walk away and could be heard chanting ‘Kimunya must go’,

Minutes late Kieni Member of Parliament Kanini Kega condemned the actions by the residents saying,

“Nothing stops any person from being an agent. But, unfortunately, we saw Kimunya being harassed,” Kega said.

Charges of offences against the administration of justice against lawyer Paul Gicheru were on Thursday, July 15 confirmed by the International Criminal Court (ICC) Pre-Trial Chamber A.

The chamber found that there are substantial grounds to believe that the accused committed, as a co-perpetrator, or under alternative modes of liability, offences against the administration of justice (Article 70(1)(c) of the Rome Statute) between April 2013 and the closure of the Ruto and Joshua Arap Sang case on September 10, 2015, in Kenya,” a statement from the court said.

The suspect was accused of interceding witnesses in a case that the court stopped. The case also involved Deputy President William Ruto and could be a danger to him if things blow up.

Alongside Radio presenter Joshua Sang, Ruto was accused of murder, transfer of population by force and persecution during 2007 general Elections.

According to ICC in 2016, they had to halt the case after they lacked enough evidence to convict the duo but announced that they were open to receive any evidence.
