Nelson Havi: LSK president promises to legalize marijuana if elected Westlands MP

Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president Nelson Havi on Sunday, June 6 called for the legalisation of marijuana in Kenya.

Taking to his Twitter page, the lawyer promised to legalize marijuana arguing that it is healthy for the nation.

Havi also noted that if elected the MP for Westlands, he would change the National Anthem to a more transformative tune.

“I promise to legalize the holy weed and change the National Anthem to a more transformative tune. It is healthy for the nation,” said Havi.

A few months back, Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina elicited mixed reactions on social media after calling for legalization of marijuana in Kenya.

Through his social media pages, Ledama wondered why Kenya is yet to legalize marijuana yet it can help in reducing pain for cancer patients.

“Why is it that we in Kenya are still stuck with the old ways of saying this is an illegal drug, this is crazy. My host is telling me that this is hemp that is used for construction, making ropes but really, it actually smells like weed… but that’s not the issue, if this is good either to reduce the pain of cancer patients why not legalize it?” He posed.
