Chaos reigned after Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and nominated MP Maina Kamanda clashed in Gitui Catholi church in Murang’a.
Things escalated after Nyoro, who is a Tanga Tanga diehard demanded to preside over the fundraiser that was organized by the Kieleweke faction led by Kamanda.
Nyoro who arrived arrived late for the function demanded to introduce the guests at the event insisting he was the area MP.
“I am the MP and I am the only one who can invite people to functions in this constituency. I respect Maina Kamanda as an elder, but I cannot allow him to come all the way from Nairobi to rule Kiharu Constituency,” he said.
The remarks saw Maina Kamanda step forward to challenge Kamanda with supporters of the two factions clashing openly in the church.
It took intervention of priest in charge, Fr John Kibuuru and County Police Commander Josephat Kinyua to restore the order after chaos that lasted about 10 minutes.
About 20 members of Parliament allied to the Kieleweke group had turned up for the fundraiser including Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni wa Muchomba and Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu.
The latest incident is a pointer to a split in Jubilee Party which has degenerated to Kieleweke and Tanga Tanga factions which do not see eye to eye.
