This was to clarify reports indicating that by being redeployed to the office meant he had been offered a new job.

“I have resigned from the government. But when you want to exit government, there are some procedures to be followed and there are clearances to be done. That’s what we are doing now

“I had accrued so many leave days, so many of these exiting procedures will be covered within the leave days, that is why you see I have been deployed to the OP headquarters, but basically I have resigned,” Natembeya explained.

Natembeya also stated that his decision to resign and focus on the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial seat in the August 9 polls has blessing of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“I have the blessings of President Kenyatta, CS Matiang’i and my immediate former boss PS Kibicho. I cannot walk out of government like an estranged wife,” he stated

Natembeya announced his resignation as Rift Valley RC in a televised address on Wednesday, January 12.

“I will from now on focus on politics as l seek the backing of residents of Trans Nzoia to become their governor

“My rivals have been asking me to remove my official uniform and face them in Trans Nzoia. As from now, I hang my boots to teach them about leadership,” he said.

Natembeya declared interest in the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial seat in September 2021, noting that it is within his right to run for an elective seat.
