A woman lost her life at the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital while waiting to be treated.
According to reports, Halima Hassan, 58, was kept waiting as nurses were celebrating their colleague’s birthday in the hospital’s laboratory.
Halima was rushed to the facility and upon arrival, a number of tests were conducted on her but she was told to wait.
Confirming the unfortunate incident, her son Ramadhan Omar said he occasionally approached a male nurse for help but he rudely told him off.
Unfortunately, Halima’s condition worsened leading to her death.
Reacting to the news, Laikipia County Health CEC Rose Maitai assured disciplinary actions including interdiction would be taken against the rogue hospital staff.
“Unfortunately, it’s true. Disciplinary action has been taken including interdiction of some,” she said.
