Musicians Nadia Mukami and Arrow Bwoy have finally announced that they are expecting their first child together following months of speculations.
The couple made the announcement during the launch of the Lola and Safari Foundation which was born out of a miscarriage they suffered in 2021.
Speaking during the event, Nadia disclosed that Lola and Safari are names that they were supposed to give their children but they lost them before birth.
“This foundation is very dear to me Lola is very feminine and Safari is very masculine. Apart from the foundation, we will have a franchise, but that is something for later. Lola and safari are names we were supposed to give our children but we did not get to,” she said.
The foundation will take care of pregnant women and young mothers and help them access satisfactory maternal health before and after birth.
“We will be walking this journey with them. Pregnancy is not a joke. I have been on this journey. This is my second time. It is not a joke. Let me prepare you, it is no joke mentally physically, financially,” Nadia explained.
She further explained the inspiration behind the foundation and its future plans.
“We sat down and thought what about those women who don’t have that support. I would like to build women’s centres for them. No dream should die for gender’s sake, just because you are a woman and you got a baby, it doesn’t have to put your dream on hold
“Let us show support for teen mothers. The foundation will have a concert to raise funds for young mothers. We will also sensitize young girls. If you don’t have money don’t get pregnant. My other tagline is it can wait,” Nadia said.
Nadia and Arrow Bwoy are expecting a baby boy.
In January this year, the couple disclosed that they suffered a miscarriage but decided to keep the news for themselves.
“I lost a child and grieved in private last year I didn’t make it anyone’s business! Anyone in question of my pregnancy, leave me alone. We have been through a lot. We have our own reasons as to why we keep our things to ourselves. We have our angel in heaven,” Nadia said.
