Popular actor and media personify Andrew Mugure, alias Mustapha has opened up on struggles he faced after losing two jobs amid the COVID-19.
Speaking in a recent interview, former Hot96 FM presenter revealed that he was surviving on handouts from family and friends during the said period.
Mustapha disclosed that some time in 2020, he was fired from his radio job at Hot96, and at the same time got fewer episodes in Citizen TV’s Mother-in-Law show.
He explained that he show producers were looking to cut on the budgets before he was eventually terminated from the show.
The actor also revealed that his wife was five months pregnant at the time of retrenchment and was put on 24-hour bed rest due to pregnancy complications.
However, his family and a few friends came to his rescue as he had a hospital bill to settle.
“I am currently not earning anything as I still do not have a job. My family has been very gracious to us as they bring me food and help in paying rent, and they also encourage me not to give up,” he said.
However, he got into small-scale farming to provide for his family as he looks for a more consistent source of livelihood.
