Murang’a: Man Dies After Consuming Illicit Liquor in Drinking Competition

One person has died in Makangu, Murang’a County after consuming what is believed to be lethal alcohol.

The deceased man identified as Leon Mbutu died while in a competition with his drinking buddies when he was overwhelmed by his drink.

According to an eye witness, Mbutu had told his friends that he could take up to three glasses of alcohol but while taking his third glass, he was overwhelmed.

“He said he can take three glasses and to prove to his friends, he did it. But when taking the third glass, we noticed he was not okay

“We took him to a nearby bodaboda shed and laid him down to give him time to recover, but a few minutes later we saw white foam oozing from his mouth,” an eye witness was quoted by a local publication.

“It is disturbing that a young man ended his life in such a manner. Indeed we have a number of people who are making illicit liquor in this area,” Mili said.
