A middle-aged police officer was arrested and arraigned in court for allegedly tearing the Occurrence Book (OB) and threatening to kill his boss.
The court was informed that Walter Murimi threatened to kill Mtwapa OCS by shooting him which is contrary to Section 103(a) of the penal code.
“On diverse dates of December 20, 2021, at Mtwapa police station in Kilifi sub-county in Kilifi county uttered words “kabla nimalizwe nitakupiga risasi wewe,” read the charge sheet.
Murimi was further charged with assault after hitting a police officer on his mouth using his elbow with is against the National Police Service act.
The officer was also charged with destroying evidence after tearing an OB where he had been booked for disciplinary action.
Murimi’s lawyer Amos Murigo asked the court to grant his client bail arguing that he might have utter such utterances out of danger.
“Your honor as you can look at his physical appearance he is innocent and weak he can’t achieve what he uttered. It was just anger which made a misunderstanding between him and his work mates,” said Murigo.
However, Shanzu senior resident magistrate David Odhiambo denied the cash bail request saying that the accused might interfere with the evidence.
