Mtumba Man recounts acting as his mother’s brother to keep her new marriage

Internet sensation Steve Sande Opondo, alias Mtumba Man recently spoke on a painful experience with his biological mother.

Speaking in a recent interview with Lynn Ngugi, Mtumba Man said his mother asked her to pretend to be her brother so that her fiancé would not know she had a son.

The 26-year-old said trouble started when his father who was a prison officer died in 1998.

“My dad was a prison police officer in Nakuru but he passed away in 1998. He loved me so much. We were forced to move to his upcountry home and life became difficult,” Mtumba Man said.

While upcountry, Mtumba Man said him, her sister and mother were mistreated by his dad’s family forcing his mother and sister to flee leaving him behind.

After three years, Mtumba Man disclosed that his mother sent his aunt to take him away from her in-laws and joined his sister and mother in Malindi.

However, Mtumba Man and his family were forced to run away from Malindi due to too many debts and went to stay with his grandmother while his sister and mother moved to Dagoretti.

In Dagoretti, his grandmother told him to act as his mother’s brother, adding that his sister would call him uncle.

“The guy believed it. My sister used to call me uncle, and my mother would refer to me as her brother,” he wrote.
