Moses Kuria Hints at William Ruto Appointing Mudavadi as His Running Mate

The biggest challenge Deputy President William Ruto is seemingly facing at the moment is choosing his running mate with less than five months to the August 9 General Election.

Word on the street has been the second in command is contemplating picking his deputy from the vote-rich Mt Kenya region in his bid to endear himself to the area electorate.

As the search continues, the DP is facing a moment of truth as his allies from the region including Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua and Senator Mwaura Isaac are on record insisting that the position is reserved for them.

However, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria opines it is not a must for Ruto’s running mate to come from the Mt Kenya region.

Taking to Facebook, the Chama Cha Kazi party leader said the region is ready to pay any price, including losing the running mate slot, to make sure that Ruto triumphs over ODM leader Raila Odinga in their presidential quests.

As a result, the vocal lawmaker backed ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi to deputise the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leader.

“The Mountain is soo determined to pay any price to send Kitendawili home once and for all and usher in the 3rd Republic- If only to get rid of Kupangwa politics. #Ruto-Musalia2022,” said Kuria.

Mudavadi is a co-principal in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance together with Ruto and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula.

It is worth noting that a recent survey conducted by Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA) showed 27% of electorates would like Mudavadi to be Ruto’s running mate.

Kuria’s proposal elicited mixed reactions on social media.

Peter Mwangi said: “He he Ati Ruto-Musalia Sasa tayari mmepanga Kikuyu? Poor Mt Kenya. Uhuru warned us.”

Cornelius Muriithi said: “There is nothing for us without us. But MK you are really trying to please Sugoi for him to endorse you in Kiambu.”

Patooh said: “Unfortunately there’s nothing like opposition governor. That’s how your end comes.”

Suf Ray said: “How will this help improve the lives of poor Kenyans. Last time you vote to punish Raila but now the results are “sweet”. I love this game!. Let’s play it once more.”
