Morrison Litiema: Jalang’o’s Domestic Worker Demands KSh 5m Compensation from Bien for Using His Image without Content

A few days ago, Kenya’s celebrated boyband Sauti Sol was up in arms, castigating the Raila Odinga led Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition for allegedly using their song without their consent.

While unveiling Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua as Raila’s running mate, the Azimio team used the group’s Extravaganza song while making their graphics, a move that the singers took issue with arguing that they had not been consulted.

However, after Sauti Sol threatened to sue Azimio over the matter, over 2000 of their followers who are seemingly Raila’s supporters unsubscribed from their YouTube channel.

A spot check by GOTTA.news established that the channel had 905k YouTube subscribers on Tuesday night and 903k subscribers on Wednesday morning.

Consequently, in what seemed to be a comment made on a lighter note, Sauti Sol’s Bien posted a meme that ridiculed those who unsubscribed from their YouTube channel.

The photo, which the singer captioned “I am unsubscribing @Sautisol chilling in the crib”, shows a young man living in not so good condition lying on his back while using his phone.

In a dramatic turn of events, the man shown in the picture happens to be comedian Jalang’o’s gardener identified as Morrison Litiema.

Litiema is now demanding an apology and KSh 5 million compensation from Bien for using his image without his content.

The man claimed a move by the singer to use his image had caused him emotional damage since it reminded him of his difficult past that he did not want to remember.

The groundsman, in an interview with the Lang’ata parliamentary aspirant, noted that on the fateful day the image was taken, they had come from a construction site and only taken porridge.

“Vile alipost hivo, anamaanisha watu wenye wana-unsubscribe YouTube channel yao ni watu wanakaa maisha kama ile yenye hiyo picha inaonyesha…na mimi sijawai unfollow Bien, na sijawai unsubscribe kwa YouTube yao.

I demand an apology and compensation. KSh 5 million is alright,” Litiema said.
