According to reports, the man had travelled to Western Australia but did not meet the requirements for crossing the border, forcing him to be quarantined for 48 hours.

The man later broke out of the isolation center by making a rope using bedsheets.

However, the man was later arrested and charged with giving false information and not following orders.

He also tested positive for COVID-19.

Elias Luri: Can you blame him? The quarantine must be done with love, not spite, with dignity, not disdain/disgust, with fellow-feeling, not fellow-frustration and with civility/care not contempt/criminalisation. If these were lacking, then the bolting of the guy is not surprising at all

Christine Okotie: This is beyond ridiculous! A very selfish act in any scenario

Watch To Laugh: People saying he’s very selfish. How? He escaped from the window where no one can be infected! I would understand if he’d gone down the escalator or stairs. He needed some fresh air. He’s actually a genius in my book
