Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has reacted to claims that a woman has taken him to court over child upkeep.
In the case filed at the magistrate court in Ngong, the woman is demanding monthly upkeep of KSh 448,450 from Sonko.
Sonko said the stated amount will cater for food and shopping, rent, security, clothing, and house help, entertainment, medical cover, education, transport and utilities.
She wants Sonko compelled to pay school fees of KSh 86,000 and another KSh 30,450 to cater for school-related expenses and uniform and provide medical cover and upkeep for the girl.
In an update on his Facebook page, Sonko dared the woman claiming to be his baby to come forward and hand over the child to him.
He also claimed that two children were recently taken away from her, adding that she uses children to blackmail people.
“Just like Jesus said, ‘let the children come to me’. I’m kindly asking the lady alleging that she has my 15 years old kid to bring the kid to me just the same way her two other kids Jabali and Riley were recently taken from her by her ex boyfriend Austin who now stays with them at Langata coz huyu dame hutumiya watoi kublackmail ndio apewe doo ya kudunda 24/7,” Sonko said.
Sonko who said he has no problem with raising children who are not his promised to give m the child the best of life under his care.
“i’ll give the kid the best of what life has to offer. my family keeps on growing bigger day in day out, i feel happy and blessed adopting orphans, street families and neglected kids in my home,” he said.
Sonko maintained that he would never be blackmailed by the woman whom he said her intentions was to extort money from him.
“Hiyo part ya kutoanishwa pesa alafu anaenda kudunda 24/7 ndio hatutaelewana ata kidogo na sitoi hata bob. Hata mtoto awe si wangu amlete tu kwangu ata saii nitamlea vizuri
“Na pia madem wengine mkifeel hamuezi cope up na kulea watoi msiwadhulumu kivyovote, waleteni kwangu nitawalea. It’s hard but fun being Mike Sonko,” he said.
