McDonald Mariga Speaks After Being Attacked During Campaigns in Kibra

Former Kenyan football player McDonald Mariga has spoken after being attacked on a campaign trail in Kibera, Nairobi County. 

Mariga is contesting for the Kibra parliamentary seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket. 

Drama ensued in the area after goons reportedly stormed his rally leading to chaos that left him with a broken arm. 

According to a viral video, the former football player was forced to visit a local medical facility where he was attended to. 

In a video circulating online, Mariga said he will not be intimidated by the attacks and he will continue with his dream to serve the people of Kibra. 

“We’ve been doing peaceful campaigns here, but there are some politicians who are sending young people to injure me

“If they think they will intimidate me by beating me and my supporters, they are wrong. We will campaign even harder and have set our eyes on the prize,” Mariga said. 

He added that he had reported the matter to the police. 

The Monday, May 30 incident sparked reactions from netizens who condemned the act.
