Maureen Nyaboke: House Help Who Allegedly Beat Toddler To Death Arrested

Maureen Nyaboke, the house help
accused of killing a two-year-boy on Tuesday at Kiamumbi in Kiambu County, has
been arrested.

Police say the house help had been on
the run after escaping the previous night from the employer.

It has also emerged the domestic
worker claimed the deceased toddler fell while playing but it is not clear why
she did not inform the mother of the incident.

“What
happened is that the deceased’s mother had left for work. Upon returning, she
found the child sleeping. The mother later discovered that her kid had bruised
lips and had injuries on the back of the head,”
said Kasarani OCPD Peter
Mwanzo.

“Once the mother
confronted the house help for answers, she claimed that the child fell on the
ground while playing. Upon further questioning, she was hesitant to answer. She
escaped from the house that night,”
Mwanzo told a local publication.

He
said the investigations are currently ongoing in order to establish the
circumstances that culminated to the death of the toddler.

The incident has elicited deep emotions on social media with a majority of netizens calling for the prosecution of the
househelp.

Earlier
today, former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko
comforted the grieving mother urging her to
come forward for assistance following the tragedy.
