Martha Karua Accuses Kalonzo, Gideon Moi of Betrayal

NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua has accused Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and KANU chairman Gideon Moi of betrayal.

In an interview on Monday, March 21, Karua noted that the duo betrayed other political parties in the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) after signing an agreement to join Azimio la Umoja.

The NARC party leader noted that OKA principals signed an agreement to approach any coalition talks jointly but Wiper and KANU joined Azimio 24-hours later.

OKA brings together Kalonzo, Karua, Moi and Cyrus Jirongo of the United Democratic Party (UDP).

“OKA was our collaborators with the sole purpose being negotiating together meaning, we were to talk with other formations together. However, our colleagues entered another agreement during the Azimio National Delegates Conference (NDC)

“In other words, the purpose of coming up with OKA collapsed that particular day,” Karua said.

However, Karua noted that she is open to working with Kalonzo and Moi ahead of the August 9 General Elections despite the betrayal claims.

“We are still friends because even before that signing, we were still working together. Yes, individual parties parted ways with OKA but we can still work together

“There is no deadline for people to work together. Even those of our colleagues whom we were within OKA, we can still walk together in this journey without any agreement,” she said.

Karua further noted that she is yet to decide who to work with between Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

“Every presidential candidate will explain to you all that s/he is able to do but it cannot happen without money or without safeguarding public resources. Seeing patriotism and people who can be trusted,” she said.
