The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced ex-CEO Ezra Chiloba’s replacement.
Marjan Hussein was on Wednesday, March 9 appointed as the Commission Secretary and the Chief Executive Officer.
The announcement was made by IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati.
Marjan served in an acting capacity following Chiloba’s exit in 2018.
Before that, he was Deputy Commission Secretary support services, a position he had held since April 2015.
IEBC had advertised the position and received hundreds of applications but settled on Marjan for the job.
“Interviews for the position were conducted on 8th March 2022 and Hussein Marjan emerged as the most qualified and suitable for the position,” Chebukati said.
Following Marjan’s new job, IEBC is set to conduct interviews for the Deputy Commission Secretary position on Wednesday, March 9 and on Thursday, March 10.
In September 2020, the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) announced that Chiloba would head the authority as Director-General.
He will serve for a term of four years and replace Francis Wangusi who occupied the position from 2012 to 2020.
Chiloba was appointed after a competitive recruitment process to fill the position left vacant with the retirement of Wangusi.
“The Board wishes to thank Mercy Wanjau, MBS who has been acting in the position of Director-General of the Authority,” the statement read.
