A Bungoma woman identified as Phanice Chemutai Juma was rushed at the Kitale County Referral Hospital in Trans Nzoia County shortly after being shot.
According to reports Ken muyonda shot the woman in the abdomen on Thursday, July 8 after he mistook her with widely sought after fugitive corporal Caroline Kangogo.
According to Ken, who is a licensed firearm holder, Chemutai had been calling him multiple times asking for a meet up at the Kiminini Market.
He said that he was not okay with her constant calls owing to the fact that he was unfamiliar with her as they have never met before.
Ken narrated that, upon seeing the woman at the market, he quickly concluded that she was Kangogo who officers are searching for for killing two men in Nakuru and Kiambu.
After the shooting, Ken took himself to the Kiminini police station and reported that he had shot a woman who he believed was Kangogo.
The officers rushed at the scene and arrested Chemutai and rushed her to the hospital where the doctors established that she was shot in the lower part of her abdomen.
Upon interrogations, Chemutai said that she knew the Kitale business man in the past where they exchanged phone numbers and was recently calling to have a meeting with him.
Ken has been arrested as police officers continue with thorough investigations on the matter.
