A Kirinyaga man who sold all his property and ran away leaving behind two wives and ten kids has returned home after nearly 49 years.
Wilson Numbi Miatu, 83, left his home in Kiamaciri, Mwea West in 1973 after selling his property in Kiamaciri and Kagio town.
Miatu who was 34 years old at the time had inherited the property from his father.
The old man was found alive in Mpeketoni, Lamu County after health workers in a local hospital circulated his photo on social media.
According to his son Paul Murimi, their father was taken to the hospital by a good samaritan and he had told doctors that his family lives in Kirinyaga.
“I think my father thought he would die after spending money when he sold grandfather’s property
“We feared that he might not be alive and gave up on searching for him as a family. He is a prodigal father, but we are happy to have found him and have forgiven him,” Murimi said.
Miatu is currently living with his wife Mary and their eldest daughter.
This comes a month after 94-year-old Hiltan Kalugho reunited with his family in Majengo village in Mwatate, Taita Taveta County after leaving for Tanzania in 1980 to better his life.
The old man stated that he wanted a good future for his wife and seven kids but he could not return home because he did not secure the money he wanted.
