A church in Zimmerman is counting losses after a new convert made away with some of their property.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), David Wanyonyi Simiyu stole cameras worth KSh 1 million during a prayer service at Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) Zimmerman Parish.
The incident happened on Sunday, March 6.
The DCI reported that Simiyu stole two video cameras and their accessories as church members were deep in prayers.
Nothing seemed suspicious until the end of the service that the church realised that the media equipments were missing, after which they reported to the police.
By the time the church realized some of their property was missing, Simiyu was on his way to sell the equipments.
Investigations led DCI detectives to three men who deal in second-hand electronic equipment were arrested after being unmasked through forensics.
“Forensic analysis and surveillance conducted via the DCI mobile laboratory in the heart of Nairobi’s Central Business District led detectives to the suspects who bought the equipment,” DCI said.
The clergymen from PCEA Zimmerman have since forgiven Simiyu and welcomed him back to the flock.
