Radio presenter Maina Kageni has claimed he budgets KSh 10,000 daily on food and drinks.
The media personality made the revelation while reacting to a recent story where two women were arraigned in court for failing to settle a KSh 147,000 bill.
“I am an expert in fine dining. Do you know what my budget is for expenditure? Me I budget for KSh 10k a day. It is gum men who run away from bills,” Maina said.
To substantiate his statement, Maina mentioned a place he frequents where a portion of samosas go for KSh 2,000 and not the normal KSh 20 per piece.
“There is a place I go here, a portion of samosas is KSh 2k. Men who are cheapskates, men without money, how do you invite her out? It’s an embarrassment as a man,” he noted.
Maina is rumoured to earn more than KSh 1 million a month and has investments both locally and abroad, specifically in the US.
The two women in question, Delilah Raila and Evy Cheptoo were accused of ordering food and drinks worth KSh 147k at Black Stars Lounge and refused to pay.
The two are also charged with creating a disturbance by allegedly insulting staff and revellers at the restaurant while drunk.
According to court documents, they became unruly at around 2:30 am and allegedly started hurling insults at a waiter saying they would not pay for the food and drinks they had taken.
The waiter who had served them tried to calm them down and told them to settle their bill but they reportedly told him off.
When they later sobered up, they declined to pay the bill and were reported to officers at Kilimani police station who arrested them.
They denied the charges.
