Education CS George Magoha has reacted to a cartoon drawing depicting him performing in a band during his time at Starehe Boys High School.
In the artwork, the CS played a bass guitar alongside other band members including legendary musician Ochieng Kabaselleh.
Speaking during an event on Friday, April 15, Magoha said the drawing was true, noting that he joined the band after watching them performing on TV.
At the time, the CS said he was part of a juvenile gang in Eastlands and would frequently get in trouble with other gangs.
“I grew up in Eastlands as one of the tough guys there and I used to be deputy commander of a juvenile gang called Sicheki
“We used to have skirmishes with all other groups at Ololo (Kaloleni), Makongeni and elsewhere so the cartoon where I was playing guitar is true,” Magoha said.
Magoha said he was admitted to Starehe Boys for his secondary school studies giving him a chance to join the band.
“I liked those bright colors, blue and red so I decided I want to go there because of that band and that also attracted me to play guitar so it is true I used to play guitar,” he said.
The CS attributed his milestones and achievements in life to discipline that was instilled in him during his time at the institution.
“Once I got there, the discipline that was there is why I am what I am today because all the band members including Kabaseli himself died many years ago,” Magoha said.
