But what wowed Kenyans was the fact that the DP spoke in an off-the-cuff the manner and did not have a scripted speech.

“We’ve had a journey of 57 years and every generation and every government has had to grapple with tough decisions when faced with challenges as a nation,” said the DP.

” But in no generation and no government has experienced the kind of challenges the COVID-19 pandemic has caused to our country.”

The DP laced his speech with humour as he spoke on lives disrupted by the pandemic; from closure of schools to places of worship.

He recalled an instance where he recently stretched his hand to greet his daughter but she reminded him to first sanitize his hands.

The DP hailed the response by Kenyans which he termed “unprecedented”
