Citizen TV news anchor Lulu Hassan has gushed over her husband Rashid Abdalla following his brilliant tribute to departed President Mwai Kibaki.
Through her social media platforms, the anchor shared the video of her husband’s tribute and praised him for coming up with such a lovely tribute.
In the video, Rashid narrated how Kibaki’s funeral went down while likening it to that of departed presidents Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Arap Moi.
“Yes, just as it happened on August 31, 1978, in the parliament building. And Monday, February 12, 2020, in Kabarak, that is how it was today, April 30, 2022. The day the third president of Kenya Mwai Kibaki was laid to rest and added to the list of the departed former presidents after his predecessor Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Moi
“Just as Moi was laid to rest next to his wife Lina is the same way Kibaki was laid to rest next to his late wife Lucy Kibaki,” Rashid said.
To make it interesting, the celebrated Swahili news anchor presented the report in a poetic way while highlighting some of his achievements.
“Kibaki akibaki vinywani mwa watu! Kibaki akibaki katika maisha ya watu! Kibaki akibaki katika historia ya taifa kwamba Kibaki alijitahidi kuelimisha kadri ya uwezo wake na kisha kutumia elimu yake kufaidi watu wote. Mwili imeenda, jina ya Kibaki ikabaki,” Rashid added.
The video sparked reactions with netizens praising Rashid for his eloquence in Swahili language.
Fred Obachi Machokaa: Inapendeza sana! Wow, the alliteration!
Lilly Shady: Brilliant Bw. Rashid, what a tribute. Mheshimiwa Kibaki atabaki vinywani mwetu daima. I was just surprised by his humble grave just like an ordinary Kenyan? Surely he was a true selfless leader.
Reginah Wa Ndiritu: Congratulations Rashid Abdalla for the great tribute. Rest well mzee and may perpetual light shine upon him always.
Irene Kemei: Huyu a nacheza kwa ligi yake, this is so poetic, ushairi wa kipekee in respect to our fallen hero, his legacy will remain and he gets into the history of this nation. Rest in peace.
