Police in Laikipia are looking for a man who stormed county offices and destroyed a computer.
A CCTV footage showed the man breaking into the office at around 2am on Friday, July 2.
Confirming the incident, County Assembly Speaker Patrick Waigwa stated that no property was stolen during the late night incident.
“He came last night, we do not know who he was, and he did not steal anything, but he destroyed one computer,” he said.
Following the incident, Waigwa directed all staff to work from home until investigations into the matter is completed.
“We have requested members of staff and the county assembly to stay away from the office because we do not know the motive of the intruder
“We have enlisted the help of experts who have been combing the office for bombs and other security threats because you may not know what the intruder was after, ” he added.
In a separate story, police in Kericho have launched a manhunt on daring youth who smoked bhang outside Kericho Police station.
In a video widely shared online, the suspect identified as Michael Kiptoo lit a roll of bhang and began blowing puffs of smoke in the air.
Responding to the matter, County Police Commander Silas Gichunge said they are determined to bring the suspect to book as he made a mockery of the station.
“We must bring the suspect and the accomplice to book. Their sheer audacity is unacceptable. The fight against drug and alcohol abuse is on,” he said.
