Kisumu: OCS, police arrested for looting alcohol from vehicle involved in road accident

Boya police station OCS and four police officers were arrested for allegedly looting alcohol from a lorry that was involved in a road accident.

Confirming the incident, Nyando police boss Leonard Matete said they received information from the crew of the lorry that the officers had stolen alcohol from the vehicle.

Matete immediately launched an operation and upon searching the OCS’ house, they recovered 72 bottles of White Pearl vodka.

According to the police report, the Isuzu lorry that was ferrying the alcohol to Kisumu got involved in a non-injury accident just after Boya area.

Matete condemned the looting calling out the five officers for stealing the alcohol instead of guarding the lorry from members of the public.

The police boss insisted that national police service shall not condone such conduct from officers further promising stern action against them.

The officers were identified as William Cheruiyot (OCS), corporal Jane Chepkemei, police constables Bernard Macharia, Samuel Maina and Rodrick Laushuset.
