Meru governor Kiraitu Murungi has tested positive for Covid-19 days after receiving vaccine.
The reports were confirmed on Friday afternoon, March 19 by Meru County CEC for Health Misheck Mutuma.
Mutuma disclosed that the governor has been instructed by doctors to self isolate to prevent spreading the deadly disease.
“He has been advised to self-isolate. He is okay … he is doing very well. He will be back [to work] after a few days,” Mutuma Said.
Mutuma urged Meru County residents to observe Covid-19 protocols so as to cab the spread of coronavirus.
On March 8, Murungi received the Covid-19 vaccine jab at the Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Murungi led by example by becoming the first person to receive the Covid-19 vaccine jab in Meru County.
While receiving the vaccine, the Murungi warned politicians who misled citizens by speaking ill off the vaccine.
“We urge all the frontline workers to take the vaccine. It will be available to all health workers in private and public facilities. The vaccine has undergone elaborate research so those discouraging Kenyans from taking it should stop,” he said.
