A police officer and his wife received massive praise online after enrolling neglected kids back to school.
The two kids, according to a report by TUKO, were neglected by their mother and they have been out of school for two years.
After learning of the unfortunate event, Sergeant Andrew Nhlati and his wife went out of their way and made sure the two kids are back to school.
According to a social media post by South Africa Police Service (SAPS), the kids were found roaming around the streets at around midnight and were malnourished and physically abused.
Their mother was arrested and released after she agreed to let go her children from her care.
“In September 2020 an anonymous report was made to the police of three children aged 2, 8, and 11 years roaming the streets of Jan Kempdorp alone at midnight. Police followed up and found the children malnourished and physically abused
“The mother was arrested and appeared in the Jan Kempdorp Magistrate’s Court and was released on a warning and the children were removed from her care. It was also discovered that the children did not attend school for two consecutive years,” wrote SAPS.
Following the mother’s release, Nhlati secured a school admission for them and at one of the local primary schools.
He also bought new school uniforms for the two kids and clothes for the 2-year-old kid gets new clothes too as she is still young to join school.
