Kibra by-election: Ken Okoth’s brother Imran wins ODM ticket

Imran Okoth, brother of the late Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth has won the ODM Party ticket for the by election slated for November 7, 2019.

Imran beat nine other contenders in the hotly contested primaries held on Saturday, September 7, after garnering 4,382 votes.

Peter Orero emerged second with 1,218 votes, John Milla Otieno got 906 votes, Ben Musungu 524 votes, Christone Odhiambo; 417 votes, Tony Ogola; 381 votes, Stephen Okello 228 votes, Brian Owino 127 votes, Reuben Ojijo;52 votes and Eric Obayi 45 votes.

Imran will now face off with other candidates in the November 7, by election. The Kibra seat fell vacant after Ken Okoth succumbed to cancer on July 26.

Already, Jubilee has nominated former Inter Milan midfielder McDonald Mariga to fly it’s flag in the by election. Others in the race include Eliud Owalo who will contest the seat on Amani National Congress.
