Police in Kiambu County arrested three Cameroonian suspects in possession of over KSh 360 million fake currency in US dollars and pounds.
The suspects also possessed one Glock pistol and 28 rounds of 9mm calibre.
Sleuths found the items hidden inside a blue polythene bag.
Through a statement shared online by DCI, the suspects were identified as Paulin Francis Proper, Job Kentong and Njikam Omar.
Police officers also disclosed that the three foreigners were illegally inside the country.
“In an operation conducted last evening within BTL area in Ruiru, the detectives also recovered over 250 kilograms of fake gold nuggets and gold bars,” said the DCI.
“It was upon further interrogation and probe of Paulin Francis, who is the main suspect, detectives raided his house in Muthaiga North where the firearm was recovered,” the statement reads in part.
The sleuths, however, revealed that the firearms belonged to a fourth suspect identified as Loise Kaguongo.
“Kaguongo operates over 10 mobile money outlets. She must be the main link between the suspects and a wider criminal syndicate that is defrauding unsuspecting members of the public across the country,” the DCI said.
