Christopher Wambua from the Communications Authority of Kenya has been appointed by the Kenya Films and Classification Board (KFCB) to replace removed CEO Ezekiel Mutua.
According to sources, Wambua will take over the position as the acting CEO after Mutua was sent on “terminal leave”.
This comes hours after Ezekiel Mutua rubbished claims that he had been fired from his position.
In a Tweet, vocal Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr alleged that the KFCB boss has been fired by Ministry of Information and Communications CS Joe Mucheru.
“Ezekiel Mutua unlawfully removed by CS Mucheru as CEO after being lawfully appointed by the board. Laws are mere suggestions for this administration,” Kilonzo Jnr wrote.
However, Mutua dismissed the Senator’s statement terming it malicious rumours, noting that there is no vacancy for CEO position at KFCB and so he cannot be dismissed.
“My attention has been drawn to reports on social media to the effect that I have been fired as CEO of KFCB. Please ignore such malicious rumours.
“I am not aware of such developments and there can be no grain of truth in them as there’s no vacancy in the office of the CEO KFCB,” said Mutua.
