The family of Kericho deputy governor Susan Kikwai has been thrown into mourning following her death.
According to multiple sources, the deputy county head succumbed to COVID-19 on Saturday, March 20.
Kikwai took her last breath at Siloam Hospital where she had been receiving treatment for two weeks.
The deceased was serving her second and final term, as she was elected in 2013 together with Governor Paul Chepkwony.
She was the daughter of former Moi-era Internal Security Assistant Minister William Kikwai, who passed on in November last year.
According to a report by Kenyans.co.ke, prior to her immediate former job, she served as the Managing Director of Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest) under the Ministry of Finance from 2005 to 2012.
She also served in several boards including vision 2030 Delivery Board, Export Promotion Council and Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
Kikwai had a Masters of Business Administration in International Management from Morgan State University in Maryland.
She also held a Bachelor of Science in Economics degree and a degree in Bachelor of Arts French from Salve Regina University in Rhode Island.
