Kenyatta Market Car Washer Wanted to Charge Uhuru KSh 1 Billion for the Service

Have you ever thought of what you would request the president should you, by happenstance happen to meet the head of state?

A car washer at Nairobi’s Kenyatta Market has recalled his brief encounter with President Uhuru Kenyatta and how he had planned to make a killing out of the meeting.

On Wednesday, March 16, the Head of State made a surprise visit to Kenyatta Market while driving himself in his luxurious Mercedes G-Wagon.

On arrival, Uhuru parked his luxurious guzzler near Kennedy Maina’s car wash instantly attracting his attention.

Maina stated that he knew someone important was inside the vehicle but he did not expect that it would be the President.

He approached the vehicle to ask if he could wash it but to his surprise, Uhuru alighted from the driver’s side.

“I told him ‘niaje Uhunye’, then we fist-bumped. I then asked him if we could wash his vehicle but he neither said yes nor no. He just walked to the butchery and I figured he must be very hungry,” Maina said.

Maina stated that Uhuru proceeded to have a meal at a nearby butchery but he had hoped to pick up the conversation of washing the President’s G-Wagon once he was done.

Unfortunately, by the time Uhuru was done eating, locals had got wind of his presence in the market and flooded the area making it impossible for Maina to interact with him again.

Maina said that if he had gotten a chance to wash Uhuru’s machine, he would have charged him KSh 1 billion, arguing that it is because he could easily afford it.

“I was not even planning on charging him KSh 1 million, no, I wanted KSh 1 billion. Nowadays in Kenya people are talking about billions and trillions. He would have given me because he is wealthy and he can afford it. It is my faith which could have made that happen,” he stated.
