Kenya’s COVID-19 cases hit 2,474 as 134 more people test positive

134 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the county to 2,474

Speaking during the daily COVID-19 briefing at Afya House, Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi said that the new cases were from 3177 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the total samples tested in the country to 90,875.

Out of the 134 individuals, 131 are Kenyans while the three others are foreign nationals.

98 of the patients are male and 36 are female while the youngest is 6 years old and the oldest is 70.

The CAS also announced that 51 more individuals were discharged bringing the total number of those who have recovered to 643.

Unfortunately, one more patient died, bringing the total number of fatalities to 79.

In terms of case distribution per county, Mombasa (67), Nairobi (31), Busia (15), Machakos (5), Taita-Taveta (4), Kilifi (2), Nakuru (2) with one case each in Garissa, Murang’a, Kisumu, Uasin-Gishu and Kajiado counties.

In Nairobi, Kibra (19), Westlands (7), Madaraka (3), Ruaraka, Kasarani and Embakasi South produced a case each.

In Mombasa, Kisauni (25), Jomvu (12), Changamwe (10), Mvita (10) and Likoni (1).
