Kenyans have expressed their concerns over the newly launched gun factory in Ruiru, Kiambu County following a recent exposé by undercover journalist Purity Mwambia.
In Mwambia’s new exposé dubbed #silahamitaani that aired on Citizen TV on Sunday, April 18 revealed how Police officers rent out guns, handcuffs and police uniforms to thugs.
The exposé opened eyes of many Kenyans who have since said that having a weapon factory in Kenya is a danger to them as the officers will easily hire the weapons to criminals.
“Machines have started roaring in President Uhuru’s arms manufacturing plant in Ruiru. In two year’s time, we shall be buying guns from hawkers,” said presidential aspirant Mwalimu Dida.

In the exposé, the investigative journalist Purity Mwambia disclosed how easy it was for one acquire the weapons with only KSh 1,000.
According to Mwambia, the rogues officers rent out a pistol at KSh 5,000 an AK47 at KSh 10,000 and bulletproof vests.
She established that one can acquire a Ceska gun having KSh 50,000.
“We found out that the officers buy guns at the Kenya-Ethiopia border and smuggle them to Nairobi… AK 47 costs 80-200K… The police who run this business make a profit… We were able to get 2 guns, which is a pity” Mwambia said.
The daring journalist also travelled to Njoro where she paid KSh 1,000 for handcuffs which she was supposed to return with 24 hours.
During the exposé, Mwambia revealed how one Mwangi, a criminal in the gun hiring syndicate got killed in Kayole before renting to them a gun.
Mwambia revealed how Kayole’s tough officer Hessy Wa Dandora bragged about how he killed the criminal and shared images of his body on social media.
According to Mwambia , after Mwangi was killed, a gun recovered at the scene was hired from a Dandora police station . Hessy Wa Dandora has since rubished the claims.

Kenyans applauded Mwambia stating that she should given fulltime security and Head of State Commendation (HSC).
