KCSE 2021 Results: Jariel Ndeda Obura from Mang’u High School Tops with 87.16 Points

A male learner from Mang’u High School has emerged as the top student in the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations.

Jariel Ndeda Obura got an A (plain) of 87.167 points, triumphing over 826,807 other candidates who sat the examinations to emerge the best.

Obura was closely followed by Mukuha Timothy of Alliance High School with 87.139 points and Mang’u’s Job Ngara closed the best three after amassing 87.116 points.

Speaking to Citizen TV, Obura said he was overjoyed when he was announced the top student nationally. He disclosed that he always put effort into his studies.

Futher in the phone interview, he noted that he did not expect to be a top candidate because he did not always top his class.

“I have always put effort into my studies and when I heard I was Kenya’s number one ,I was over joyous. I did not always top the class, from time to time someone would defeat you. I was in the top 10,” he said.

The young man also said he did a lot of practice in all the subjects and balanced them well so that he could pass in all of them.

He said he would like to pursue medicine in his tertiary level of education.

“I took Maseno University as my first choice, so I would like to join Maseno,” he said when questioned on which university he would like to join.

The results were announced by the Education Cabinet Secretary on the afternoon of Saturday, April 23, at Mitihani House in Nairobi.

Candidates can check their results by sending their KCSE index number via the SMS number 20076.

For those using SMS, the cost for one message is KSh 25.

Magoha said that alternatively, candidates can collect their results from their respective examination centres physically or visit the county education offices.
