Candidates sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams in Kapsukum, Muchongoi in Baringo County were forced to abandoned their exams after gunmen opened fire at them.
According to reports, armed bandits launched an attack near two schools on Monday, January 7 forcing students to scamper for safety.
A fierce exchange of fire between security officers and bandits was reported around the area.
No casualties have been reported so far.
The affected school, Karnee Primary School hosts more than 80 candidates including its own and those from Kapkechir Primary School.
The candidates were being guarded by two police officers.
This comes barely a week after eight people were killed in a daring attack in Kerio Valley, while several others were left nursing serious injuries.
